I. The Tell-tale Parrot. (a) A parrot decides a lawsuit against a woman,or
(b) reports a woman's infidelity to her husband.
(c) The woman orders the parrot killed, cooked, and served to
her, but the parrot escapes the cook (after it is plucked) and
the cook substitutes a chicken.
II. The Parrot as God. (a) The parrot hides in a temple and advises the woman, when she
comes to worship, to shave her head, give away all her goods
or the like, and she will go directly to heaven. The woman
thinks it is a god speaking and obeys.
(b) When she has done as ordered and has called the people to
witness her ascent into heaven, the parrot ridicules her.
