I. The Murder. Six brothers live with their sister. One day, while cooking, she cuts her finger and blood falls into the food. The older brothers find the food delicious and decide to kill and eat their sister [G36.2]. The youngest refuses, or (a) the other brothers force him to shoot and his arrow kills his sister.
II. The Speaking Tree. (a) From her grave a flowering plant grows or a tree [E631]. (b) From the tree a fiddle, flute, etc., is made (c) which, when played, tells of the girl [E632]. (d) From the musical instrument the girl appears (mysterious housekeeper [N831.1]). (e) The girl marries a king or the musician. The brothers come as beggars and are confronted by the girl [L432.1]. (f) They sink into the earth [C984.7, F942], etc., and from their hair grass grows.
