I. The Inheritances. (a) The eldest brother inherits a cock, the second a scythe (see Type 1202), the youngest a cat (see Type 1651); or (b) they inherit a millstone, a musical instrument, and a reel.
II. Luck. (a) They reach countries where these objects or animals are unknown, and sell them for a fortune [N411]; or (b) the eldest brother lets the millstone fall on robbers who are counting their money (see Type 1653); (c) the second brother calls together wolves with his musical instrument (see Type 1652); (d) the third threatens to draw the lake together with his reel (see Type 1045).
