Beschrijving
Two Candles. A pious man (old woman) lights a candle for (before the image of) God (a saint), and another one for (before the image of) the devil [V55] (cf. Type 1645B). When a priest (sexton) asks him why he does this, he explains that one never knows where one will end up. So it is wise to be on good terms with both.
