Bending a Tree. An ogre (giant, devil, dragon, bear) and a man (Gypsy, tailor) have a contest to see who is the stronger. The man is not able to bend a tree and to keep the tree-top down. He tricks the ogre into performing this task. When the tree-top springs up, the man is shot into the sky. He pretends to have made a high jump to fetch (catch) something. (The ogre is unable to imitate the jump, falls to his death, or gives up.) [cf. K1112].
