The Woman Does Not Know Herself. To punish his wife for her foolishness (stupidity, drunkenness), a man covers her with tar and feathers (puts a different dress on her, cuts her hair off). No one recognizes her, and even she does not recognize herself (she thinks she is an animal or a devil, asks her children who their mother is) [J2012.2, J2012.3]. Cf.
