The Man and his Dogs. A man has two (three) dogs with peculiar names, e.g. “Shepherd” and “Get-the-Stick”. When the man calls his dogs, a thief (thieves) believes he has been discovered and will be beaten (caught) [J2493]. He runs away. Cf. Types 883C, 1641.
