Turnips as Bacon. A farmer who gives his farmhand only turnips to eat all winter, makes him agree that they are bacon (beans are fish, herring are carp, etc.); otherwise the farmer wants the man to leave. During the hard work at harvest time, the farmhand threatens to leave the farmer if he does not call a cat a rabbit (bear, stork) [J1511.2].
