Beschrijving
The Clergyman with the Fine Voice. A clergyman notices that when he sings (preaches), an old woman starts to cry. He thinks his singing is affecting her deeply and so he sings more forcefully. After the service he asks her why she was crying. She answers that his voice (beard, face) reminded her of her recently-dead goat (donkey) [X436].
In some variants the woman answers that the clergyman reminds her of her son who is studying theology. She is crying because it is such a waste of money [cf. X426].
